As tourists kicked off their Heritage Day weekend with visits to the Kruger National Park, one lion decided he didn’t want to miss out on a long weekend and took a stroll out of the park.
Visitors making their way to Crocodile Bridge, near the Malelane gates along the N4, were surprised to find the lion walking along the roadside, on the wrong side of the fence. The lion didn’t seem phased at all and leisurely strolled across the tarred road oblivious to the fuss around him.
The sighting was reported to authorities, as well as Latest Sightings Kruger who sent out a team to track and keep an eye on the lion until he could be successfully moved back to the reserve. Fortunately, the beautiful beast was tranquilized and moved back to the reserve safely.
