Our elated Toyota Fortuner 4×4 challenger, Jackie Moore, is in full preparation mode ahead of the 2018 challenge that kicks off on 22 October. Moore stands a good chance of walking away with the prize of a Toyota Fortuner worth R520,000, a Specialized Epic Comp mountain bike valued at R40,000, a Garmin Fenix 5 Multisport GPS watch worth over R8,500 and Reebok active gear.
She will team up with one of four top South African sports celebrities, fitness star Mapule Ndhlovu, Toyota Cheetah’s player Ox Nché, track athlete Steffi Van Wyk-Brink or rally driver Giniel de Villiers – and compete against other finalists from around the country in various sporting and 4×4 challenges.
After being chosen as a semi-finalist Moore watched her phone like a hawk, hoping to receive the call saying she had made it to the final. When that call eventually came, she couldn’t compose herself.
“I shouted at the top of my voice, and you couldn’t wipe the grin off my face. I put down the phone and ran outside to my husband and kids to tell them the great news. I was on an absolute high the entire evening. I couldn’t sleep, considering what I needed to do to win this,” she said.
Jackie Moore has been training mentally and physically for the Toyota 4×4 Challenge.
Being very active and sporty, she maintains a good level of fitness all year round, which means she is already in great shape to compete. “It’s never easy to train during winter but I entered the three-day Berg and Bush MTB race, so I have been doing quite a bit of riding and the odd run when I get a gap.”
“If I am not physically at my strongest I believe my mental strength with get me through. I have done a few 24hr + adventure races and in the end it all comes down to keeping your mind strong to push through.”
The challenge entails getting through several sporting, mental and 4×4 activities, which the contestants have no knowledge about until the event day.
“I definitely believe I can win this challenge, I am an all-round athlete, having competed in so many different sport disciplines. I know I have the edge on the other competitors. I have the mental strength to get me through a lot of things and my physical strength is a back up,” says Moore.
With a positive outlook and a winning mindset, she believes she is going to walk away with the Fortuner. We are 100% behind her!
