In 2013 Australian mining entrepreneur Clive Palmer revealed plans for building a full-scale replica of the Titanic that sank in 1912, which will be known as Titanic II.
After putting his dream on hold for some years due to financial constraints, Palmer announced last month that building would begin once more, adding that when the ship is complete, it “would follow the original planned route of the first Titanic,” according to an article published on the Guardian’s website.
Last week Palmer announced that Blue Star Line headquarters, the company behind the Titanic II project, would be moved to Paris (from London) due to Brexit.
There is speculation that the ship will sail in 2020, however, according to the article, a Blue Star Line spokesperson announced that work has begun to engage with ship builders. “Once DD [due diligence] is completed we will announce conclusive building and voyage timelines,” he said.

The ship will be able to accommodate 2,435 passengers in 835 cabins and there will be first-, second- and third-class tickets available, exactly like on the original. It will differ in that there will be more than enough lifeboats for all the passengers and it will be fitted with modern navigation equipment. The interior of the ship will be identical to the original Titanic, including the magnificent staircase.
Unsurprisingly, there have already been some amusing comments on social media about the ship.
