South African airline Mango is among the top on-time airlines in the world, according to OAG Aviation’s latest Punctuality Report.
The report is based on over 58 million flight records from 2018 to create a ranking of the airlines and airports worldwide with the best on-time performance (OTP).
Mango Airlines is proud to have been rated 19th in the list of the world’s top 20 punctual airlines in 2018 published on Friday by OAG, a UK company that provides data feeds to the airline industry. The OAG’s definition of on-time performance (OTP) is when flights arrive or depart within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival/departure times.
Mango ranked number 19 on the OTP list, with 82.8 per cent of its flights arriving on time. The low-cost airline also made it to number four in the ranking of on-time performance for Low Cost Carriers (LCC).
Mango ranked the most punctual airline on the African continent.
A South American carrier, Copa Airlines, ranked first in the world in the general OTP rankings, with an on-time performance of 89.79 per cent.
The rankings report comes as air travel increases across the world. About 4.3 billion passengers travelled by air last year, according to a report by the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which means the number of jet-setters is up by six per cent compared to 2017.
