Just when we thought Paris couldn’t get more romantic, the first snowfall of the year in the area blanketed the city of love on Tuesday night and the sight has us swooning.
A total of 24 departments were on high alert due to the weather warming from the country’s national agency, Metro France, according to The Local France.
All the departments were well-prepared on the day, ensuring the safety of all commuters in and out of the city.
Although the snowfall caused disruptions to roads and public transportation routes, it managed to make up for it the next day, creating a winter oasis of icy white among pretty Parisian buildings and iconic local landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower.
Locals and tourists took the opportunity to wonder through the city to see the snow’s effects and snap photographs of the beautiful wintry scenes.
The renowned Sacré-Coeur Montmatre was surrounded by whiteness.
Reports issued by France24 stated that locals were seen snowboarding down the grass area surrounding the Sacré-Coeur Montmatre.
The Eiffel Tower was closed on Tuesday as a safety measure but has since been reopened to visitors. It stood tall in the thick layer of snow.
Images of the snowy scenery were shared that show the jaw-dropping beauty of the city covered in white.
