See Victoria Falls aboard a tram

Posted on 14 March 2019 By Adrian Brown

Travellers to Zimbabwe can experience Victoria Falls’ cascading waters aboard the newly launched tram as is an ideal way to see the natural marvel. The tram includes a lunch, and a fully stocked bar.

Pure Africa Destination Management, a premier tour operator, launched a scenic tram experience with the idea behind the concept being for visitors to  “travel back in time inspired by the words of Cecil John Rhodes”.

Rhodes once said: “I want a train to stop in the centre of the bridge so that traveller can see and appreciate the grandeur of the Falls.”

Pure Africa Destination Management, General Manager for Victoria Falls Jonathan Baker, explains that the pairing of food and the tram is a unique way to visit Victoria Falls.

“We are passionate about bringing our flair for artisanal food and craft beverages to this unique experience. We believe that pairing historical relevance with a laid-back lunch and pop-up bar experience will make this a new culinary activity unique to the Falls.”

Called the Historic Tram and Bridge Experience, guests can travel aboard from 11.45am until 2pm every day.

The ride starts at one of the oldest buildings in the area, the Victoria Falls Train Station which is right opposite the historically-rich Victoria Falls Hotel. As the tram passes through the wilderness, guests have an opportunity to see various animals in their natural habitat.

Guests have the chance to marvel the gorge that separates Zimbabwe and Zambia as the tram stops before the middle of the Victoria Falls bridge.
