Svart Hotel, the world’s first energy-positive hotel located above the Arctic Circle, will open in Norway in 2021. The hotel will generate more energy than it uses, giving it an positive energy status.
Set at the foot of the Svartisen glacier, Svart Hotel will extend from the shoreline and into the Holandsfjorden fjord.
The hotel will be located in the Meløy municipality, some 1,300km north of Oslo. The word “svart” is Norwegian for “black”, a reference to the dark ice of the glacier and the inspiration for the hotel’s name.
The building will be a complete circle, in order for guests to have panoramic views of the fjord.
