The aquarium is situated on the basement level of the Food and Entertainment court. It houses over 30 species of fish and a range of coral and underwater plants.
The underwater display allows visitors to encounter ocean life despite being thousands of kilometres from the sea, while interacting with informative displays around the tanks.
For instance, the Dyer Island Conservation Trust’s Wave of Change interactive artwork will be a permanent feature at the aquarium to highlight plastic recycling.
The centre hopes that this educational exhibit will help to promote a love of the ocean and its creatures.

‘Certified and regulated aquaria specialists ensure the selected ocean fish are cared for constantly. Each fish was hand-selected according to compatibility and natural distribution,’ the shopping centre stated, according to Joburg.co.za.
