A passenger on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Allure of the Seas, risked her life after climbing over the ship’s balcony railing to take a selfie.
Peter Blosic, another passenger, saw the unidentified woman and snapped a photo of her as she was posing on the edge of the ship in her swimming costume. The woman has been referred to as an ‘absolute idiot’ by a number of media reports.

Blosic wrote: ‘I showed the concierge. The staff captain then wanted to meet with me and get a copy of the photo. We easily determined the cabin number since it’s on the hump.’
The ship was travelling through the Caribbean and a spokesperson for Royal Caribbean later confirmed that the passenger was sent packing when the ship docked in Falmouth on the north coast of Jamaica. The cruise line has also banned her from sailing with the company for life due to her reckless behaviour.
Royal Caribbean‘s website states that: ‘Sitting, standing, laying or climbing on, over or across any exterior or interior railings or other protective barriers, or tampering with ship’s equipment, facilities or systems designed for guest safety is not permitted.’
It adds that non-adherence to the rules could result in intervention by ship security, law enforcement or ‘removal from a ship at the next port of call’.
