It’s been a busy season for snake catchers in KwaZulu-Natal, as multiple snakes have been seen in and around homes – and even in the sea – in the province. The past weekend was another busy day in the office for snake handler Nick Evans, who also rescued a boomslang from the surf at a Durban beach, as a couple living near Krantzkloof Nature Reserve found a massive puff adder popping by to say hello.
In a humorous turn of events, Evans saw it was a female and that she was quite wide, thinking she must surely be pregnant. He took her for x-rays and an ultrasound at Dangerous Creatures at Ushaka Sea World. Evans was disappointed to find out she just needed to go to the loo!
