Residents of a small Italian village were subjected to a piping problem when they discovered red wine flowing from their taps instead of water. Ready-to-drink Lambrusco leaked into water pipes after a malfunction at a local winery occurred.
The northern Italian town of Castelvetro were given a moment of relief from the coronavirus crisis as 1,00-litres of delicious Lambrusco flowed into their homes. The local government confirmed that it was in no way a risk to the safety of its residents according to CNN.
The ordeal lasted around 3 hours and around 20 homes were affected by the faulty faucet. Speaking to CNN, Giorgia Mezzacqui, the deputy mayor of Castelvetro said: ‘At a time where we have very little to smile about, I’m glad we brought some levity to others. Hopefully some day they’ll remember us and will want to come visit us.’
Cantina Settecani winery stated that the malfunction was a result of a faulty valve in the washing circuit within the bottling line.
