We can’t travel but we can get inspired to travel. While we are stuck indoors, we might as well fan the flame of wanderlust with some travel-related movies.

1. Wild
Featuring Reese Witherspoon, this story of a woman taking to the road through the wilderness by herself, will have you looking for your hiking boots.
2. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
A man goes on fantastic adventures in his imagination. Based on a short story and featuring Ben Stiller, this one is sure to get you itching for your next trip.
3. Madagascar
Who says animations are just for kids? This lovely family movie will have you in stitches, and show you a whole new world. There are follow ups too when you’re done with number one.
4. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
Set in India, a star-studded cast makes this charming film a winner. A group of retired British friends set out to restore a luxury hotel, but things are not what they expected.
5. The Bucket List
This film that coined the phrase ‘bucket list’. Two terminally ill friends, played by Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, go on a road trip to do everything they wanted before they die.
6. Mulan
This movie will tug at everyone’s heartstrings. Drenched in ancient Chinese culture, a young woman pretends to be a man so she can join the war. The original animation is an all time classic, but there’s a live action remake on its way to South Africa too.
7. Midnight in Paris
This one’s for the dreamers. Quirky as ever, Owen Wilson travels back in time to 1920s Paris. He meets famous writers, artists and all sorts of interesting characters in a dreamy, decadent world, but no one in modern world believes him.
8. Anna and the King
The true story of a British travel writer who is employed as governess for the children of a Thai king. A love story as much as a travel story, played brilliantly by Jodie Foster.
9. Eat Pray Love
Also a true story, Julia Roberts portrays a modern woman who feels lost. She goes on a solo journey to find herself again, and finds many other things along the way as well.
10. Around the World in 80 Days
Jackie Chan thrills in this wholesome comedy. An eccentric adventurer builds a plane and he bets it can take him around the world in 80 days. A mismatched crew helps him win the bet, but several setbacks along the way make things a little difficult.
