If you were planning on being in Cape Town for your birthday and looking forward to taking a free trip to the top of Table Mountain when lockdown got in the way, have no fear.
The popular Table Mountain Aerial Cableway suspended operations on 18 March well before the national lockdown. Would-be visitors can rest assured, however, that if they celebrated their birthdays during the lockdown period, they will still be able to claim their free ride. The Cableway Birthday Special tickets will be available for collection from the ticket office and visitor information centre once re-opened.
Similarly, Cable Card holders who have free year-round access will also be able to claim their free rides. These will be credited to the cards for use after lockdown.
The cableway has also been running a competition where past visitors can share their best travel memories of the cable car ride and mountain-top explorations to win two rides and a voucher for the Table Mountain Café.
