On Tuesday 28 April, Lesotho woke up to a blanket of autumn snow. Afriski Mountain Resort shared pictures of this winter wonderland to social media.
Afriski is located in the Maluti Mountains, 3,050 metres above sea level.
Afriski Director Peter Peyper told Getaway that while the snow is early, it is not unusual. ‘We have received more snow during April this year than we did in the past two years. It’s is still a bit early to tell but we hope this is a sign of what to expect for Afriski’s 2020 winter season.’

In a Facebook post, Afriski wrote: ‘We woke up this morning to a dusting of snow at the resort, surrounded by pure white peaks, with the snow level being mostly above 3,100m.
‘Roads from Afriski to Letseng have most of the snow (5cm). All road users are advised that 4×4 is required in these zones but note that it should melt within the next 2 hours and open it up for all vehicles’ usage.’
