Jabu and Morula swim in the Okavango flood plains

The Living with Elephants Foundation is a NPO based in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. The foundation rescues African elephants and gives them as second chance at life. Currently there are two elephants in their care: Jabu and Morula.

Jabu (male) and Morula (female) were saved from a culling operation which left them both orphaned. Founders Doug and Sandi Groves have spent 30 years of their lives to provide a safe, world-class haven for these orphaned ellies.

According to the Living with Elephants Foundation website, these two gentle giants cannot yet be released into the wild due to their horrific start to life, as well as chronic injuries.

The area of the Delta where the organisation is based has recently been flooded, a seasonal occurrence where the delta bursts to life.

Botswana had been battling a detrimental drought for the last two years or so the floods have been a blessing to these parts.

Recently, on the Living with Elephants Facebook page, Sandi has been keeping the world informed with the antics of Jabu and Morula.

Videos of the two enjoying their first swim in the flood plains are both heart warming and comical.
