Campers are always on the lookout for novel and exciting ways to spend time outdoors. A new form of camping in Belgium combines the best of a tent and a treehouse.
These ‘teardrop tents’ are suspended mid-air in the trees of a forest near the city of Borgloon. The tents can be reached by ladders and have windows, a mattress, a bench and ledges for storage, according to Lonely Planet.
To overnight in one of these curious cribs, campers will be set back 70 Euro (about R1,400) per tent per night, which can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children under 12. Camping is only available between April 1 and September 30.
The campsite is situated near Hex Castle, a popular tourist attraction renowned for its exquisite architecture and gardens.
These tents were originally created as an art display by artist Dré Wapenaar as part of the Pit Landscape art festival in support of environmental activists who want to stop tree felling, reports Travel + Leisure.
