Visitors to the Kruger National Park planning to overnight in the Park’s accommodation are urged to act responsibly and only book within their provincial borders.
Visitors are requested to be respectful of lockdown regulations.
‘Overnight guests are reminded to book accommodation in their respective provinces otherwise they risk being turned back from the park,’ said Dalene Preston, administrator of the Facebook group for Kruger National Park.
‘North of the Olifants rest camps cater only for Limpopo residents and south of the Olifants for Mpumalanga. Let us be responsible to avoid disappointment and blaming SANParks for implementing regulations accordingly. Balule is in Mpumalanga. Satara is in Mpumalanga. Please take responsibility for your booking – make sure you are booked into a camp in your home province,’ Preston added.
Other rules strictly enforced by the Park are:
- The limits on vehicle capacity
- The limits on the number of people per unit
- Picnic areas will not open
- Visitors may drive across provincial borders inside the Park, but must overnight in their home province
- Visitors must exit the park into the same province that they entered from

The tourism sector has welcomed the lifting of the ban on intra-provincial travel and overnight stays, but stakeholders are pushing for the reopening of inter-provincial borders. The DA has launched a public petition that will be brought to parliament.
