Delta Air Lines has moved the launch date of their new direct Cape Town – Atlanta route to December due to international travel restrictions. The new route was planned to start on October 24.
‘The new flight is now scheduled to start flying from Cape Town to Atlanta on December 14, 2020,’ Jimmy Eichelgruen, Delta’s director of sales for Africa, Middle East and India, told Travel News.
In May the airline announced the retirement of its Boeing 777 fleet by the end of 2020. This will make Delta the first major US airline to do so. The airline will be operating a A350-900 on this route. The Cape Town stop will be to refuel after the Atlanta – Johannesburg route before continuing back to Atlanta.
Delta has implemented several health protocols including blocking middle seats and air filtering, to ensure traveller safety.
