Peninsula Hotels around the world have adopted a ‘Peninsula Time’ policy that allows guests to arrive at any time during the day of their check-in, and leave any time after their last night of stay.
‘Especially now that travel has become somewhat more challenging, we understand that extra time is one of the most meaningful gifts we can provide to our guests,’ said Gareth Roberts, owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels. ‘By letting guests arrive earlier and stay longer, we hope to provide them with greater peace of mind – and an even more personalised experience.’
Along with the hotel group’s new check-in flexibility, they have also moved towards a more sustainable approach with the products they use for their ‘scented rooms’ and complimentary gift sets.
‘Custom-created by local fragrance curators to embody the essences of each Peninsula locale, the amenities – shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body milk, and soap – offer guests a delightful sensory immersion in their hotel’s destination. These products are also made with natural ingredients and come in recyclable aluminium packaging,’ the website reads.
‘Additionally, amenities such as shower caps, toothbrushes, and razors which formerly incorporated petroleum-based plastics, have been replaced with more ecologically minded alternatives made from corn starch, wheat, wood and recycled metal. Inner plastic wrappings in packaging have also been eliminated. Together, these sustainability improvements have allowed the new bespoke collection’s packaging to be 99.9% free of single-use petroleum plastics.’
The luxury hotel brand originated in Hong Kong, and today has 10 hotels across the globe in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, New York, Chicago, Beverly Hills, Paris, Bangkok and Manila. New Peninsula hotels are currently under development in London, Istanbul and Yangon.
