South Africans are once again being called upon to help choose the livery for the new Lift aircrafts.
Lift is the newest South African carrier and is a partnership of Global Aviation, Kulula founder Gidon Novick and former Uber executive Jonathan Ayache.
The low-cost airline was named following a national campaign. The public was able to make suggestions for the airline’s new name. ‘Planey McPlaneface’ was one of the more amusing entries.
Through their Instagram page, the airline has asked the public to help them decide between two options, pictured below.
‘You helped us pick the name. Now help us brand the plane. Which look are you feeling – A or B? Cast your vote in the comments below and be a part of the making of an airline!’
To vote for the plane you need to have an Instagram account and comment under the post, which can be found here.
The airline will be lifting off in December, with relatively low-cost airfares.
‘Challenges experienced in the aviation industry caused by Covid have presented an opportunity to re-think the way airlines are structured and to gain access to infrastructure and talented‚ specialised people.
‘The industry is undergoing a fundamental change and new business models are emerging in the industry where stronger customer orientation and more competition are evolving.
‘The airline has developed a uniquely flexible model where flights and routes can be quickly added based on demand. This has allowed Lift to re-imagine the processes around flying and to make air travel easier and less stressful for South Africans. LIFT travellers will in turn have full flexibility on their tickets‚ allowing them to change and cancel without penalties and giving them peace of mind particularly during this time of uncertainty.
‘LIFT ground and cabin crew will be kitted out by leading on-line fashion retailer Superbalist. Travellers will also be treated to “proper coffee” from Vida e Caffè on morning flights. Afternoon flights will feature wine tasting featuring a selection of South Africa’s top wine estates,’ says the airline’s official website.
