Chile will reopen its borders to tourists on November 23.
‘We are opening the borders with prudence, taking the necessary safeguards. We hope that these reunions, especially of those binational families that have been separated, can become a reality, with all the necessary self-care measures to avoid contagion. Chileans and foreigners, I ask that we take care of each other,’ said Paula Daza, undersecretary of Health in Chile according to Lonely Planet.
Travellers must present a negative COVID-19 result from within 72 hours prior to travelling. Visitors must also complete a form to get a Health Passport online up to 48 hours before boarding and have health insurance that covers COVID-19-related medical costs during their stay.
Chile is a unique country that offers a variety of sights and activities.
‘From the high Andean plateau to the untouched southern territories at the end of the world, Chile invites you to live adventures in the middle of the world’s driest desert, in the unique rainy temperate forest of South America, in front of millennial glaciers that are waiting to be discovered or under the watchful eye of the Andes in the middle of the buzz of modern cities like its capital, Santiago,’ the country’s tourism website reads.
Chile has recorded 633,100 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, 508,000 recoveries and 14,863 deaths.
