Police in the Lephalale area launched a manhunt for an unknown number of rhino poaching suspects after two carcasses of a male and female white rhinos were discovered on Monday, December 28, at a Limpopo Game Reserve.
According to the South African Police Service, park rangers were performing a routine patrol of the area when they came they came across the heartbreaking finding. They quickly notified police about the slaughter, who arrived on the scene shortly after receiving the news.
‘Upon arrival, it was also discovered that the rhinos were shot dead, dehorned and police found a cartridge and projectile at the scene of [the] crime,’ SAPS said in a statement.
