Resort in KZN closes after manager tests positive for COVID-19

The Hilltop Resort located inside Hlhluwe iMfolozi Park in KZN was forced to close after a manager tested positive for COVID-19. Guests staying at the resort were given the option to self-isolate at the facility under certain conditions.

Guests choosing to stay at the facility would need to be willing to cook their own food and do their own house-keeping.

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife confirmed the news on its Facebook page on January 3, stating that the closure of the resort is a precautionary measure and is in line with advice received from Ezemvelo’s medical team.

This comes after the manager of the resort, who interacted with all resort staff as well as the guests as part of his duties, tested positive for COVID-19.

The Hilltop Resort is scheduled to reopen open on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

‘The guests who are currently at the Resort have been informed and they will be allowed to self-isolate within the resort provided they are willing to cook and do house-keeping for themselves,’ Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife said.

Any guests who booked a stay during this time will be requested to transfer their bookings to either the Mpila Resort, which is within Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park or Mantuma Resort at Mkhuze Game Reserve. These guests will also be allowed to reschedule their stay for a later date in the year or request a refund.

All three main gates, including Memorial, Nyalazi, and Cengeni will remain open and the public, but the Hilltop restaurant is closed.
