The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued Yellow Level 4 Warnings on January 29 for disruptive rainfall expected over the Highveld of Mpumalanga, Gauteng, extreme north east of North West and western Bushveld of Limpopo.
Flooding is expected in low-lying areas, as well as isolated cases of breakages of informal/ farm dam walls, disruption of traffic and basic services, flooding of roads and settlements (formal and informal), and danger to life due to fast flowing streams/ deep water.
A Yellow Level 2 Warning has been issued for disruptive rainfall over north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal, resulting in flooded low-lying areas, disruption of traffic and basic services, damage to agricultural crops and livestock as well as rock falls.
Many parts of the country have received heavy downpour after Storm Eloise reached Mozambique on January 23.
The Kruger National Park has also been inundated with water following heavy rainfall earlier this week. Parts south of the park have been left inaccessible, with various low-lying bridges left completely underwater.
