Areas of Musina in Limpopo are flooding after heavy thunderstorms on Monday, February 22. Authorities have issued warnings to avoid driving, as many roads are completely submerged or severely damaged.
‘The heavy thunderstorms have caused havoc in some parts of Musina. Other areas do not have electricity while others are inaccessible,’ the Musina Municipality wrote on Facebook.
‘Parents are advised to keep their school children at home until it is safe to move around. Any disaster should be reported to your ward councillors or our Disaster Management Team led by Mr Ravhuanzwo (0794910221) or Mr Mokobi (0794910322),’ the Municipality added.
The town recorded up to 200mm of rain in some areas on Monday.
According to Weather.com, no more thunderstorms are expected for the province on Tuesday. Musina is forecast to have a cloudy morning with sun in the afternoon, and only 7% chance of precipitation.
Residents have taken to social media to share footage of roads and bridges that have flooded.
