It is believed that vaccinated tourists travelling in groups will be allowed entry into Israel as of May 23 as the country plans to open up tourism.
According to the Israel Health Ministry, groups are much easier to monitor than it is to monitor individuals. However, individual vaccinated travellers are expected to be allowed entry at a later stage.
Like many other countries, Israel requires all visitors to provide a negative PCR test result certificate at the entry port. Both serological test and PCR test taken upon arrival in Israel will prove the existence of antibodies.
Tourism Minister Orit Farkash-Hacohen revealed that ‘it is time that Israel’s unique advantage as a safe and healthy country starts to assist it in recovering from the economic crisis,’ as reported by The Times of Israel.
‘Only opening the skies for international tourism will truly revive the tourism industry, including restaurants, hotels, sites, tour guides, buses and others looking to work and provide for their families.’ the Minister explained further.
The Immigration Ministry of Israel announced that it will allow vaccinated foreign visitors who have recovered from COVID-19 as well as those who have first-degree relatives in the country to enter with their spouse and children.
Before this announcement was made, foreigners were only permitted to travel into Israel under rare circumstances such as to receive essential medical treatment or to attend a funeral.
