Located on Long Street, The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel that hosts the only designer rooftop trailer park in the world recently got treated to a makeover for the Decorex Cape Town Design Trail.
The design trial occurred during June and was a curated series of events including open studios, designers, architects, artists, and the hospitality sector showcasing spaces that bring creativity to the city. The revamp of the Grand Daddy’s Cape Wineland’s trailer by Osmond Lange Architects and interiors showcased South African decor.
The rooftop of the Grand Daddy Boutique hotel is fully utilised for an open-air cinema and kitted-out airstream trailers, each with its own theme, serving as a luxury trailer park.
This makes for a unique glamping experience in the mother city where guests get to sleep under the stars in the middle of a buzzing CBD. The refurbished Cape Winelands trailer with carefully curated interior incorporates the colours of fynbos and vineyards to stay true to the trailer’s Wineland’s theme.
The interior design team of Osmond Lange in aiming to create an intimate space, that evokes thoughts of being in a vineyard stated that: ‘All décor elements were carefully chosen as inspired by the rich colour palette of the region’s fynbos, sandstone and vineyards… Each décor item tells a story that originates from its artist or crafter. Most products are local and handmade.’
