A lucky Kruger visitor came across a fantastic sighting of a Southern African python eating a woodlands kingfisher near Lake Panic and shared his pictures with us.
Pythons are non-venomous, and kill their prey only by constriction leading to suffocation. These massive animals can weigh up to 50kg and be up to 4 metres long according to Kapama. They are known to prey on birds and rodents, but can easily eat larger animals like impala too.
