Popular holiday destination Sun City Resort will soon open its doors as one of the country’s vaccination centres. The resort is still closed for leisure.
North West Tourism MEC Keneetswe Mosenogi said that ‘we can go back to normal and everybody can have the confidence that when you interact as a tourist you’ll be interacting with a vaccinated person… I think this is going to be a lifeline for all of us,’ according to eNCA.
‘Before we travel we must vaccinate, and at least there’s some form of confidence that as a traveler, you have been vaccinated and when you visit Sun City or establishment around Sun City you’ll be comforted that at least also those have been vaccinated.’
Statistics reveal that South Africa received a total of 6 384 382 doses of the vaccine, and 2 311 559 (3,9%) people have received their vaccination as at 27 July.
In Sunday’s national address, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the next rollout will be for those aged 18 to 34 starting from 1 September 2021.
The website states that they will reopen for leisure on Thursday, 29 July. Due to limitations on capacity, access to Sun City Resort will only be granted to Hotel and Sun Vacation Club residents, existing MVG members, guests with confirmed golf bookings and guests that have pre-purchased Valley of Waves Day Visitor Tickets.
