Cape Town – South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has moved the country to adjusted lockdown Level 3 with effect from Sunday, July 25.
“The latest figures suggest that we have largely passed the peak of the third wave of infections, although there are areas in the country where we still need to be concerned because the rates of infection have not yet shown signs of decline,” Ramaphosa said during a televised national address on Sunday.

He said the average number of daily new infections over the last week was around 12 000 new cases a day, which represented a 20%drop from the previous week.
Ramaphosa placed the country in adjusted lockdown Level 4 on June 27, as the country was in the midst of a third wave of Covid-19 infections.
Two weeks later, the country remained at Level 4, but some restrictions were lowered.
