Emirates has released important information about South African passengers transiting through Dubai.

PCR test required for transit in Dubai

The airline explained that all travellers transiting through Dubai must have a negative COVID-19 test certificate that has to have been issued within 72 hours before departure. The negative test certificate must be issued by a laboratory that uses a QR code system as no others will be accepted, beginning Monday, 9 August. Here are the approved laboratories in South Africa:

Another important note is that no transit over 10 hours will be allowed through Dubai International Airport.

Emirates advises that travellers check-in early as the various entry regulations and COVID-19 test requirements are mandatory before flight departure. Emirates check-in counters at all three South African airports (Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban) will be open four hours prior to departure and will be closed 60 minutes prior departure to ensure that all necessary document checks are completed in time.

Physical boarding passes will be issued to travellers only after the necessary certificates have been checked at the check-in counters. Emirates currently is not permitted to issue any online or mobile boarding passes.
