Squeezed in between the holiday towns of Groot Brak Rivier and Klein Brak Rivier lies the unassuming coastal village of Tergniet. While some claim it’s an extension of Hartenbos, others believe it’s a town in its own right.
According to urban design firm CNdV, Tergniet (together with the adjacent village of Reebok) likely developed from the ‘Old Klein Brak’ village, the settlement in the middle of the Klein Brak River floodplain which would have been a historic crossing point.

This Garden Route spot does not boast large shopping malls, much in the way of entertainment or even really typical tourist attractions. For these, you can easily visit Mossel Bay or George nearby.
But if it’s fresh, sunny mornings on the beach and peaceful walks in the afternoons you’re after, this is the place to be. Here, holidaymakers come to escape the crowds and the traffic, and to take lazy swims in the tidal pool or fall asleep reading books on the stoep.
