It’s no secret that we’re facing an unprecedented climate crisis, but not all hope is lost. In fact, experts agree that even the smallest consistent actions can make a big difference.
Bongani Mnisi, Board Chairperson of the Human Resources and Remuneration Committee of the Breede-Gouritz Catchment Management Agency, says that this year, Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to recommit ourselves to protecting our precious natural environment.
A renowned South African conservationist, Bongani has been passionate about the environment his whole life. Having grown up in the breathtaking province of Mpumalanga, nature has always been close to his heart.
After studying nature conservation and specialising in botany, he now works in Cape Town towards creating spaces for the community to enjoy the environment.
He encourages everyone to do their part on Earth Day, with small actions that can have a big impact. ‘Whether it’s planting a tree or cultivating a vegetable garden or cycling to work – every bit counts.’
‘Earth Day highlights that a good quality of life is underpinned by a healthy environment,’ he says. ‘Without it, our lives as we know it would cease to exist.’
Bongani is part of Sweet-Orr’s #LoveWhatYouDo campaign, which pays tribute to the pioneers, innovators, and hard workers in every field who share one thing in common: they love what they do.
