After two employees in Kruger National Park were attacked by a leopard, South African National Parks (SANParks) made the decision to euthanise the leopard. However, shortly after the incident, videos surfaced online of individuals striking the euthanised leopard.

SANParks took to Facebook to condemn the actions depicted in the videos and have taken steps to identify all those involved, and take legal actions.
Nine implicated persons have been identified as SANParks employees, rangers and one visitor. The State Veterinarian’s necropsy confirmed the leopard’s cause of death was gunshot wounds and not related to the attack by the persons involved in the videos.
One employee has already been suspended and is pending disciplinary action, and management are in the final stages of their approach with regards to the other implicated employees. The process is expected to be finalised by 22 July.
‘SANParks once again states that the actions of these individuals run counter to conservation management and the ethos of the organisation,’ the post reads.
