A chimpanzee in Ukraine that escaped her temporary shelter at Kharkiv Zoo got to hitch a bike ride back when she was finally recaptured.
Chichi used to live at Feldman Ecopark, an outdoor park in Kharkiv but was evacuated to a safer place when the Russian invasion took place, along with other animals.
She managed to escape her enclosure, but was persuaded to go back by a hug from one of the zookeepers. When it started to rain, she also accepted the zookeeper’s jacket, and finally got onto a bicycle to be wheeled back to safety.
Take a look.
Wildlife in Ukraine has been particularly affected by the war, with many animals being relocated to safer areas and even other countries by conservationists.
