Switzerland has set a new record for completing a journey in the world’s longest passenger train.
The train is 1.9km in length, weighs 2 990 tons, and has 100 coaches. It took an hour to cover the 25 km journey through the UNESCO World Heritage Albula Line, travelling from Preda to Alvaneu.
According to CNN, ‘The Swiss are the world’s most enthusiastic rail users,’ and have about a 5 300 km railway network, making it the densest rail network in the world.
The world record ride was made to celebrate 175 years of Swiss railways and to spotlight ‘Switzerland’s engineering achievements,’ reports BCC.
