A US Motorist called for help after getting stuck on a snowed-in road in the Oregon forest by attaching his phone to his drone, sending it sky-high.
There was no cell phone signal on the rural road, which goes unserviced during the winter. The motorist, who remains unknown, strapped his phone to his drone after sending a message to his friend, and flying it until it got a signal.
Rescuers praised the man for making ‘smart decisions’.
‘Regardless of the circumstances leading to his situation, once stranded this person made several smart decisions,’ Lane County Sheriff Search and Rescue said. ‘Rarely does anyone in Oregon die from exposure waiting in their vehicle to be found and rescued.’
‘The increased elevation allowed his phone to connect to a tower,’ the statement added.
