Reports have confirmed that Julie Goodness, who had been missing since Monday morning in Cape Town, was found on Wednesday afternoon.
Goodness was last seen leaving her City Bowl flat on Monday, and because she is a regular trail runner and is thought to have walked towards Table Mountain, a search was launched in the Table Mountain area.
Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie confirmed her safety to News24.
‘Police can confirm that the missing woman has been found on Wednesday. She is safely reunited with friends,’ he said.
According to Marc Truss, chairperson of Cape Town’s central community policing forum, Goodness was discovered unharmed. Truss stated that she was discovered in the CBD area and has since been reunited with her loved ones.
News24 reported that her partner, Richard Armstrong, said he was ‘happy and relieved’ that she was back.
‘We’re all so happy and relieved that our Julie has been found safe. We would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everybody involved in ensuring that she was found and brought to safety,’ he reportedly added.
The family has since asked the media and the general public to respect their personal space and privacy.
