Following months of being stranded at sea, an Australian sailor and his dog were found and rescued in the South Pacific Ocean over the weekend.
Tim Shaddock and his dog Bella left La Paz, Mexico three months ago. A month later a storm struck and wiped out his electronics. They survived off of raw fish and rainwater, and avoided sunburn by ‘sheltering under his boat’s canopy.’
Over the weekend, 15 July 2023, a Mexican tuna trawler rescued the pair, after they were spotted by a helicopter that was accompanying the trawler.
The doctor who treated Shadock said that he had normal vital signs
NBC News reported that Shaddock said, ‘I have been through a very difficult ordeal at sea.’ He added that luckily he had fishing and survival gear on board with him.
‘I’m just needing rest and good food because I’ve been alone at sea a long time.’
