Architectural Digest, a popular American publication, has ranked the Mother City in their Top 20 list of most beautiful cities in the world.
The publication, also known as AD, claimed that although 20 cities were nowhere near sufficient to encapsulate all the world’s beauty, they tried to shine the light on some places which are supremely spectacular.
According to SA People News, a number of factors were considered in drawing up the list. These include a city’s architecture, historical relevance, cultural treasures and even natural appeal.
Cape Town scooped 14th place, with AD admiring the destination for its varied offering.
‘Brilliant blue waters, buzzing nightlife, an ever-emerging arts scene, and the majestic Table Mountain make Cape Town a stunning city no matter your definition of beauty. For both nature lovers and thrill seekers, getting a closer look at the city’s main mountain never disappoints.’
The American publication also highlighted Table Mountain National Park which has a cable car offering panaromic views of the city, as well as Boulders Beach which offers the chance to spot penguins.
