Madison Hart’s hiking trip turned into a nightmare when she got trapped in the crevice of a canyon for over 13 hours.

The 26-year-old recorded what she thought might be her ‘final moments’ after becoming wedged in a narrow crevice on July 19, reports Yahoo.
Hart and a friend were exploring Wildcat Tank Canyon in Arizona when she panicked, and slipped into the crevice while ‘stemming’ down a steep area of the Canyon.
“I started panicking…and I slid,” Hart recalled. “I was stuck from my hips, unable to sit or lie down,” she shared on Storyful. “If I went forward or backward, I would have gotten a crush injury.”
Hart’s friend managed to climb out after some time had passed to raise the alarm, but poor cell service hampered rescue efforts.
Eventually, a message got through to a friend on Snapchat, who then alerted authorities, reports USA Today.
By the time help arrived, Hart had been without water for nine hours. Rescuers from multiple agencies worked to free her from the canyon.
She was then airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
“My legs had turned purple from standing for so long,” Hart said. She also suffered nerve damage and an ankle injury.
The ordeal left Hart shaken but grateful. “Thank you, guys,” she wrote “Just glad to be alive.”
