Formally known as the Sir Seewoosagur Botanic Garden, the Mauritius National Botanical Garden is one of the world’s oldest gardens.

The lush paradise has a history which dates back almost 300 years and is populated with more than 650 varieties of plants. It is also home to 85 different varieties of palm trees brought from different corners of the world. Undoubtedly, the natural attraction is a form of paradise in its own right and is worth visiting.

It boasts more than 9,000 of Southern Africa’s 22,000 plant species, and was created to protect the country’s fauna and flora. Great importance is also placed on the growth of indigenous plants in Southern Africa.

Aburi Botanic Garden

Located in Ghana, the Aburi Botanic Garden is one of the continent’s most stunning and peaceful attractions. It can be found just outside Accra and offers a mixture of indigenous and exotic trees.

The garden also boasts an impressive array of bird and butterfly species. Additionally, Aburi plays an important role in encouraging cocoa production in Ghana’s southern region through its involvement in scientific farming methods. It is also the ideal place to enjoy picnics, nature walks and even to capture stunning wedding pictures.

Aswan Botanical Garden

Also known as Kitchener’s Island, Egypt’s world-class Aswan Botanical Garden is a great leisure spot for families and nature lovers. It also serves as an important centre of botanical research in Egypt.

The garden is home to many rare and exotic plants, including the Sabal palm tree. There is also an impressive abundance of birdlife. To help visitors reach the garden, there are public ferries which travel to and from the island.
