Cape Town has been rated as the best value long-haul destination for UK tourists in 2024. This is according to the Post Office Long Haul Holiday Report.
According to the Independent, the Mother City beat out 31 other international resorts and cities, including Tokyo which has previously occupied the number one spot. For the first time in six years, Cape Town is the number one spot where UK travellers can get the best value for money.

As reported by The South African, cost-effective local pricing, alongside a weakened South African economy, has resulted in a decrease in the cost of spending time in the city for the British.

When ranking the destinations, the main factor taken into consideration was the average cost of tourist staples.
These include items such as a glass of wine, a three course meal, a cup of coffee, insect repellent, a bottle of suncream, a small chocolate bar and a cocktail.
Kenya’s Mombasa also made it onto the Top 5.
