UmPhafa Private Nature Reserve is the newest addition to this region’s extensive nature reserve list. It lies near Northern Drakensberg and the uThukela River. The reserve has declared its commitment to wildlife conservation and protecting local cultural sites.
WWF has reported that the KZN Conservation Stewardship Coordinator with Conservation Outcomes, Cilla Hilcove, has since commented on this immense contribution to nature preservation in this area:
“UmPhafa Private Nature Reserve is a significant asset for conservation in KwaZulu-Natal, playing an important role in protecting biodiversity and promoting conservation research. Conservation Outcomes is proud to have been a part of this declaration process and could not have done so without the support from WWF.”
