The Ugandan Tourism Board (UTB) has partnered up with the Ugandan police to start closing down unlicensed accommodation facilities.

As reported by Tourism Update, this operation will start on the 18th of November. According to the Uganda Tourism Act, all accommodation facilities ought to be licensed by UTB in order to remain operational.

Accommodation facilities are categorized as lodges, hotels, motels, guesthouses, villas, tented camps, cottages, inns, serviced apartments, hostels and farmhouses.
According to UTB, the clamping down on accommodation facilities without operating licenses is aimed at upholding the highest standards to ensure that guests experience the best of Uganda’s hospitality.
It is also in line with UTB’s emphasis on enhancing quality assurance.
