Severe flooding throughout Spain has led to widespread disruptions, with Barcelona-El Prat Airport now suspending operations, according to TravelNews. Torrential rain began on 4 November, causing flash floods that inundated Terminals 1 and 2 and parking areas.

Airport operator Aena has reported 70 flight cancellations and the diversion of 18 flights due to the flooded runways. Spain’s national weather agency has issued a red alert for Barcelona, urging people to avoid travel to or from the city.

Rail operators Renfe, Ouigo, and Iryo have also suspended services between Barcelona and Tarragona as flooding has filled a crucial tunnel. Public transportation in the city, including the Metro, the Cable Car, the Funicular, and the Tourist Bus, has been brought to a standstill. This storm follows earlier floods in Valencia, which claimed over 200 lives, underscoring the deadly toll of the extreme weather battering the region. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge residents to exercise caution as the rains persist.
