The sun is back out, and what better way to take advantage of the sunshine than to spend the day outdoors with your family? We compiled a list of family activities in Durbs, which are perfect for a weekend outing. And don’t worry, we’ve taken budgetary concerns into account.
1. Picnic at Durban Botanic Gardens
The Durban Botanic Gardens is known as Africa’s oldest surviving botanic garden. It was established in 1849 primarily for the cultivation of vegetables and fruits. Since then, it’s evolved into an important botanical station, gaining global recognition through its research, plant collection, and educational outreach.
In addition to picturesque scenery, they have numerous special plant collections, such as orchids, palms, and cycads. They also have a butterfly habitat garden to promote the growth of various species.
Informal picnics are allowed at the gardens, and entry is free! A picnic basket can easily be filled with things already in your house, making this the cheapest option on this list.
