LIFT kicked off the festive season in style, swapping traditional in-flight entertainment for a dose of comedy at 36 000 feet. Passengers aboard the 13h00 Cape Town to Johannesburg flight and the 16h00 Johannesburg to Cape Town flight were treated to a surprise live performance by South Africa’s award-winning comedian, Alan Committie.
‘Alan is well known and loved by South Africans and a recipient of 2023 Comics Choice Awards Hall of Fame. We thought our passengers would appreciate a few laughs as we head into the festive season,’ said Charlene Meltz, LIFT’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Best known for his iconic run in Defending the Caveman with 963 performances across South Africa, Committie delivered his signature wit and humor in this first-of-its-kind collaboration with the airline.
‘At LIFT, the sky isn’t the limit,” added Meltz. “We thrive on creating memorable moments for our passengers. Whether through comedy, music, or partnerships with iconic South African brands, we’re committed to supporting local talent and elevating the travel experience.’
This surprise show continues LIFT’s tradition of creative collaborations. Earlier this year, the airline teamed up with the cast of MAMMA MIA! for an onboard performance, hosted a book launch at cruising altitude with author Jo Watson, and unveiled a co-branded Checkers Sixty60 aircraft.
For those who missed the in-flight laughs, Committie’s new show Comedy Gold kicks off on December 18th at Theatre on the Bay in Cape Town and runs until February 8th, 2025. It will then transfer to Montecasino Theatre in Johannesburg from February 19th to March 16th. Tickets are available on Webtickets.
