Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront has reported a fantastic festive season. The attraction welcomed over 3 million visitors, achieving almost R1,4 billion in retail sales.
As reported by The South African, approximately 200 000 people visited the Waterfront on New Year’s Eve alone to enjoy its amenities, as well as to partake in its festivities.
‘The December period is always special at the V&A Waterfront with locals and tourists making their way to enjoy the best of what we have to offer, and this year was no exception’, said David Green, Chief Executive Officer at the V&A Waterfront.

Green further added that the positive numbers reflect the Waterfront’s incredible appeal, with many viewing it as a place to connect, celebrate and create memories.
As reported by IOL, this past December saw the enhancement of the Waterfront’s retail experience through an unveiling of high profile tenants including Marble Restaurant, Wedgewood, Thule and Nike.
Furthermore, hotels in the V&A Waterfront also reported positive revenue throughout the festive season. This reaffirms the strong demand for high quality accommodation in the area.
Similarly, major attractions such as the Two Oceans Aquarium and the Zeitz MOCAA Museum continued to draw significant numbers, displaying impressive growth in comparison to the 2023 festive season.
Looking ahead, the V&A Waterfront aims to continually evolve, while also keeping South Africa’s tourism offering at the forefront of global travel trends.
