Cape Town’s dining scene has welcomed a new and rather unconventional addition. This time, it’s on the move!

In November 2024, hospitality entrepreneurs Janse de Villiers and Jonathan Faurie launched Bus Cuisine, a fine-dining restaurant that operates from a luxury double-decker bus in the Mother City.

The restaurant offers guests a six-course tasting menu while travelling along the Atlantic Seaboard, blending gourmet cuisine with some of the city’s best views.

The bus departs from the Commodore Hotel in the V&A Waterfront and follows a route that includes Mouille Point, Sea Point, Camps Bay, and Hout Bay, reports Cape Town ETC.

The mobile restaurant serves lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday, and breakfast on Friday to Sunday, reservations can be made online.

The menu features locally sourced ingredients, with each course carefully designed to maintain the quality expected of fine dining while being served in a moving environment. The experience starts with a welcoming glass of bubbly and award-winning South African wines are paired with every meal.

According to their website, Bus Cuisine plans to introduce new buses along with new routes soon.
